Chicago Public Schools recently released the news that their large system of public schools would be adopting a new method of funding. This new method, known as per-student funding, is where each student is given a net worth and the population of a school will determine the amount of funding that individual school will get. It has been decided that for the 2014 school year "per pupil rates will be $4,429 per student in kindergarten through 3rd grade, $4,140 per student in 4th through 8th grade, and $5,029 per student in high school" (Per Pupil Funding 1) This would ensure budget cuts for smaller schools who are less populated. Per Student funding reduces the amount of funds an undersized school receives, which will in turn reduce the amount of resources a school may need in order for the students to exceed in their education.
